Career Pathways Summits

On June 21st, 2011 Velocity hosted the first annual Career Pathways Summit in Madison, Wisconsin.  Because of its success, we are planning more summits across the country and joining other similar conferences that have been planned. Read on to learn about the Madison conference.

Over one hundred people from education, government, industry and foundations gathered to learn and share ideas about the career pathways movement developing in Wisconsin and across the country. The excitement and energy generated from the excellent speakers, panelists and attendees has created momentum that will further develop the career pathways movement in Wisconsin and beyond.

Using the Pathways to Prosperity report as a foundation for the meeting, participating stakeholders shared their perspectives on ways to better connect kids in the classroom to realistic opportunities for meaningful future work.

We welcome the perspectives of our guests on the following points, as well as comments on the event in general to keep the conversation going:

1. What excited you the most about the messages you heard at the Career Pathways Summit?

2. What are some things happening in your area around the subject of career pathways development that you would like to share?

3. Which other stakeholders do you feel should be connected to this movement from the following categories, or others you may think of:

  • Foundations
  • Employers
  • K-12 and Post-secondary education
  • Federal, state and local government

Please share your ideas by commenting on this post.

In addition, we’ve created a LinkedIn group called the Career Pathways Community, to continue the dialogue, invite new people to the conversation and strengthen the connections made at the event. Please join the group by following this link: Career Pathways Community.

You can also follow updates on the movement on our facebook page.

Presentations from the event are also now available at the downloads page for your review.
